Hi ,
Not all AI algorithms are created equal.
Last week, Nvidia announced it was entering the technology race, against Google and Meta, to develop a universal speech recognition model. It turns out, the algorithms currently used in voice assistants, such as Google Home and Amazon
Alexa, only support "fewer than 1% of the world's spoken languages".
This is yet another sign that the arms race of the 21st century is all about who can reach various technological milestones first.
Earlier this week, I wrote of the risks presented by trusting immature AI technologies. But risks also bring with them opportunities. And whenever an AI system is developed that fails to live up to expectations, an opportunity is created for someone else to step in and build an alternative system that can do better.
To
take full advantage of these opportunities, though, businesses need to strike a healthy balance between viewing AI as a benefit versus viewing it as a threat.
How does your business currently perceive the use of AI-driven technologies? Hit reply to let me know.
