Here's the thing...
Not everything in life needs to have a point.
Sometimes, "because you can" is a good enough reason.
Yet, for a business to be sustainable, it needs to create value. And anyone working for a business needs to contribute to
that value creation - either directly or indirectly.
According to a widely quoted statistic, 87% of all data science projects fail to make it into production. It would be interesting to know how many of those failed projects could actually deliver a positive ROI and how many were the equivalent of Ice Ice Matrix - fun to create, but not much else.
It’s mind-blowing what current technology can now enable suitably motivated people to do. And it's only going to become more amazing in the coming years.
But before getting too carried away with all the excitement, pause for a moment and ask yourself - what's the point?
