Hi ,
Using Grammarly doesn't make it more likely you will write a
best-selling novel. But it does mean anything you write will be grammatically correct and free from spelling errors.
And calculators don't make it more likely you will make a breakthrough discovery in maths. But they do make it less likely you will make a mistake when doing basic arithmetic.
These tools raised the floor, when it came to writing and mathematics. But they didn't raise the ceiling.
Here's the thing...
We can say the same for generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT.
Generative AI has raised the floor for what is now acceptable in a range of fields - from copywriting to graphic design - and will continue doing so for years to come. Thus, making it impossible to compete if where you are operating was at or near where the floor used to be.
Yet, generative AI has had little impact on the ceiling, except to make those who are playing there even more capable.
If you want to compete with generative AI, that's where you need to be.
Talk again soon,
Dr Genevieve Hayes.
