Hi ,
Wherever you go in the world, there's a McDonald's not far away. And regardless of which McDonald's restaurant you walk into, you can be pretty certain of what you're going to get.
From Melbourne to Montreal, a Big Mac is still a Big Mac.
This is a direct consequence of one key aspect of the McDonald's business model - each menu item that McDonald's sells can be reduced to a clear set of preparation instructions, simple enough for an unskilled teenager to follow.
Removing ambiguity from their business systems allowed McDonald's to flourish and grow to over 40,000 restaurants worldwide.
Here's the thing...
Although generative AI tools, like ChatGPT,
literally have the knowledge of the world at their disposal, working with them is a lot like working with unskilled teenagers. To get the most out of them, you need to eliminate ambiguity and communicating with clarity.
Communicating with clarity has always been an essential part of computer programming. And although experts predict computer programming, as we currently know it,
will ultimately become an unnecessary skill for most data scientists, the ability to communicate with machines with clarity never will.
Eliminating ambiguity is the tech skill of the future and is what will allow businesses to flourish and grow.
I recently had the
opportunity to speak to Dr Eric Daimler, CEO of Conexus AI and former advisor in AI and robotics to the Obama Administration, on his views about the future of AI, including the above.
